Terms of use

These terms apply to everyone who uses Australia Motors — browsing, buying, selling or operating a dealer account. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

1. What Australia Motors is

Australia Motors is an online advertising platform for cars, motorbikes and bicycles. We provide the space for sellers (private individuals and dealers) to list vehicles, and for buyers to search, compare and contact sellers. We are not a party to any sale, do not take a commission, do not hold funds, and do not own, inspect or guarantee any vehicle listed on the site. Every transaction is between the buyer and the seller alone.

2. Accounts

You need a free account to list a vehicle, message another user, save searches or favourites. You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information when you register. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for anything that happens under your account. Let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Listings

Listings must be accurate, for a real vehicle you have the right to sell, and must not be duplicated across multiple accounts. Every listing goes through a review step before it becomes public, and we may reject, remove or request changes to a listing at our discretion — most often because required information is missing, the listing is a duplicate, or it appears to be fraudulent or misleading.

Prohibited listings include (without limitation): vehicles you don't own or aren't authorised to sell, stolen vehicles, listings that are deliberately misleading about condition, history or specification, and anything unrelated to a genuine vehicle sale.

4. Dealer accounts

Dealer accounts are for businesses that sell vehicles as part of their trade. A dealer application is reviewed before approval, and we may request supporting information (such as a business name and location) to confirm the applicant is a genuine business. Dealers are responsible for the accuracy of everything listed under their account, including anything added through bulk CSV import.

5. Conduct

You agree not to: use the platform for anything unlawful; harass, threaten or defraud another user; attempt to circumvent our moderation, security or rate-limiting; scrape or bulk-extract data from the site other than through any API we explicitly provide; or interfere with the platform's normal operation.

6. Messages and contact details

Messages sent through the platform may be reviewed by our moderation team if reported, to investigate misuse. Don't share more personal information than you're comfortable with, and never send money to another user based solely on a conversation through this platform — see our safety guide.

7. No warranty, limitation of liability

The platform is provided "as is". We don't guarantee that any listing is accurate, that any vehicle is as described, or that any transaction will complete successfully. To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Australia Motors is not liable for any loss arising from a transaction between users, from a vehicle's condition or history, or from your reliance on information in a listing. Nothing in these terms excludes any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, submits fraudulent listings, or is reported and found to pose a risk to other users. You can delete your own account at any time from your account settings.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
